Oru vattam koodiyennormakal – Chillu Movie Song Lyrics

This is the all-time favorite song or poem of any Malayalee. I do not think there is a Keralite who does not like this song and has not sung it at least once. Even I don’t think there is someone at least at my age who doesn’t know the full lyrics of this song. Everyone will remember this song when they remember their childhood and school days. In a school class, I can’t really recollect it (maybe 5th or 6th class) this poem was in the textbook in the name “Moham”, with some correction in the first line. It was “ഒരു വട്ടം കൂടിയപ്പഴയ വിദ്യാലയ തിരുമുറ്റത്തെത്തുവാൻ മോഹം” People who learned it may remember, please leave a comment in the “comment” box if anyone knows. This poem was taken from the Poem Collection of ONV Kuruppu, “Valappottukal (Pieces of Bangle)”.

Whenever I was told to study then I would open the Malayalam textbook and start singing this poem in the tune of the movie song itself. Then from the next room, Vappumma (Grand Mother) would shout, asking, “Are you singing film songs when you are told to study?” then I showed the textbook and I said, “look at this Vappumma, it is a lesson in the book and I am learning“. Has anyone else done this?
