I was thinking what should be my first post on Lyrics? Oh God! there are thousands of songs which I love, in Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil. How can I pick one first to post? Yeah! so I thought to post the song I first learned by heart. It was when I studied at the 3rd standard. At that time, I was with my grandparents. My youngest auntie had been written this song on her notebook’s last page, in red ink. “Chembarathi poove Chollu” from Shyama movie was that song.
“This one is the first and last movie song which I sang in my school classroom when I was at 4th standard.”
ചെമ്പരത്തിപ്പൂവേ ചൊല്ല്… (Chembarathi poove chollu…)
Lyricist: shibu chakravarty Music: Raghu Kumar
Singer: K. S Chitra Movie: Shyama
Chembarathi poove chollu
dhevane nee kando (2)
swarna radhaghosham (chembarathi)
Chembarathi poove chollu….
Dhevanu nalkaan kaiyyil
Kovilil poyi dhoore
naanichu ninnavale (dhevanu)
Vannille chaarathu ninnille
aaduvaan vanna kaatte
chandana kattililo (chembarathi)
Although this one was the song I first learned, I heard it so many times on the radio and watched the song in “Chithragheetham” on Doordarshan but I never saw the movie yet. In childhood whenever I saw this song on TV I really thought the heroine “Nadiya Moidu” has been played a double role in this movie and both girls who sang and who were shying were twin sisters. Hey, tell you the truth? Still, I don’t know. 🙂 Lol!!
There was another reason for thought me like this. That was another song “Poonkatte Poyi Chollamo”, which was cast by Mukesh and Nadiya, but in the “Chemabarathi poove” song, there was Mammootty. So as a child, I thought in this film she really plays a dual character.
